The summers in my local area rarely last more than a couple of months, but the heat and humidity are a problem.
Central air conditioner isn’t necessary but I wanted some type of cooling option.

I was able to purchase a window air conditioner to perfectly suit my exact requirements at the local home improvement store. The AC component fits directly inside the window frame. The installation process was straight-forward and quickly accomplished. I’m not overly handy, but all the instructions and equipment I needed were included in the box. The unit is lightweight and when not in use, I store it in the attic for the winter. It takes me less than ten minutes to set it up in the spring. The air conditioner maintains an ideal temperature throughout the hottest days of summer with minimal running costs. The unit not only offers an easy solution to comfort but it is wonderfully energy efficient. It offers the added benefit of programming. I have it scheduled to start up shortly before I head to bed at night and to shut off in the morning. The operational noise is just enough to drown out exterior noise pollution such as barking dogs and traffic. I can even adjust the direction of airflow so that it targets cool air right at the bed.
