The high ceilings & important windows are lovely. Over the years, there has been quite a bit of renovation. Walls have been removed to create a more open floor plan. This has created some issues with temperature control in certain areas. There are sections of the home that lack adequate supply & return vents to handle demands. Certain rooms frequently become hot, sticky & stuff while others are drafty & cold. A single temperature control doesn’t allow an opportunity for targeting these certain living spaces. Our HVAC duct is simply too old to accommodate the valves for zone control. My spouse & I are unwilling to tear out walls & ceilings & go through the mess & expense of replacing the duct system. The project would destroy the architectural integrity of the residence. After a lot of debate, my buddy and I decided to invest into a ductless multi-split system. It consists of a compact outdoor unit that affixs by way of a conduit to multiple indoor air handlers. The upgrade required little more than a three-inch hole to accommodate the conduit. There was no construction or mess & the system was operational within a single afternoon. As a heat pump, the ductless system provides both heating & cooling, and each indoor air handler operates independently, providing zoned temperature control. My buddy and I are able to make adjustments according to the needs of a certain room. The ductless system is lovelyly energy efficient, quiet yet powerful. It entirely handles the dire weather & includes perks such as occupancy sensors that target the direction of airflow, wireless accessibility & automatic start up after a power outage.
