I think it might be time to invest into a new furnace.
My current heating system is over twenty years old and beginning to have some problems.
I’ve noticed that it runs more often than it used to and struggled to maintain ideal temperature on especially cold winter winter days. I have needed to raise the thermostat setting several times. Because the furnace is blasting at maximum capacity just about non stop, my monthly utility bills have become significantly more expensive. I am paying more for inferior comfort. The furnace has become louder, is definitely introducing dust and other contaminants into the air and has required several minor repairs. I am concerned that the furnace will quit at a very inopportune time. During the middle of January blizzard, the temperature sometimes drops into the negative twenties. We can accumulate multiple feet of snow in a matter of hours. Weather warnings, school closings and driving bans are not unusual. My family could not remain in the house without heat. There would be the very real danger of our water pipes freezing and bursting. Rather than be in a rush to get a new furnace installed, I would prefer to schedule the project over the summer. I’d like to spend some time reading reviews before hiring an HVAC contractor. Because the installation of a furnace is extremely expensive, I don’t want to make a mistake that I regret for the next twenty years. Although the current furnace continues to operate, I’ve begun researching modern makes and models. I plan to schedule a free estimate for replacement as soon as the weather warms up.
